Cal Poly State University awards continuing education units and a letter grade, which are recorded on a Record of CEUs and printed on state university letterhead. An official Cal Poly transcript documenting the CEUs and grade earned is also available.

If you remember how to work with fractions, decimals and Geometry formulas such as area and perimeter start with Elementary Algebra/Algebra l. If you are weak in one of those areas, start with Basic Math/Pre Algebra.
After the Basic Math/Pre Algebra course, Elementary and then Intermediate Algebra should be taken. If you are taking a test such as the GRE or ELM, CLEP, take the Test Prep Course instead of Intermediate Algebra. The Test Prep course contains Intermediate Algebra, Data Interpretation and Geometry. Test Prep covers everything on tests such as the GRE and ELM, CLEP. If you feel like you can start higher than the Basic Math/Pre Algebra course, read through the Basic Math syllabus and see if you recognize all the topics listed. If so, you can enroll in Elementary Algebra. If you think there are several topics from the Basic Math/Pre Algebra course that you are not familiar with, then enroll in the Basic Math/Pre Algebra Course.
ˆOur Basic Math/Pre Algebra course is designed for students studying for the GED. It covers all the math topics that are needed to be successful on the GED. You will need to take the actual test at your local adult Ed center, but you can study for the test online.
ˆThe CBEST tests covers Basic Math, Elementary Algebra, Geometry and Data Interpretation. Our two courses: Basic Math/Pre Algebra and Elementary Algebra completely cover all the topics of the CBEST. Our Basic Math/Pre Algebra course includes Geometry and Data Interpretation, so for many students this is enough to pass the CBEST without the additional class of Elementary Algebra. We leave this choice up to the students. You may want to try the test after completing the Basic Math/Pre Algebra, and if you pass you won't need the other.
